The following is a list of links to other related groups and agencies at the state and national levels. Louisiana LinksARCLA - The Arc of Louisiana advocates with and for all people with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities and their families that they shall live to their fullest potential. BIALA - The Brain Injury Alliance of Louisiana (BIALA) is a non-profit organization that serves the needs of persons with brain injury, their families, and care providers. DDC - The Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council is made up of people from every region of the state who are appointed by the governor to develop and implement a three year plan to address the needs of persons with disabilities. FHF - Families Helping Families is a group of families who are committed to reaching out to other families who have members with special needs including physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, and/or academic issues. GODA - The Governor's Office for Disability Affairs promotes the rights and opportunities for persons with disabilities in the State of Louisiana and addresses and resolve disability issues. GOEA - The Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs administers a broad range of home and community based services for the development, implementation, and administration of public policy for the state of Louisiana to address the needs of the state’s elderly citizens. LaCAN - Louisiana Citizens for Action Now is a statewide grassroots network of individuals advocating for a system that supports individuals to live in their own homes rather than having to move to a facility to receive needed services. Specifically, they have advocated for implementation of Louisiana's Community and Family Support System Plan. LATAN - Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network assists individuals with disabilities to achieve a higher quality of life and greater independence through increased access to assistive technology as part of their daily lives. LRS - Louisiana Rehabilitation Services provides career development programs that offer individuals with disabilities a wide range of services designed to provide them with the skills, resources, attitudes, and expectations needed to compete in the interview process, get the job, keep the job, and develop a lifetime career. OCDD - The Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (LA Dept. of Health and Hospitals) provides information, training and leadership in the development of a comprehensive array of individualized supports and services to people with developmental disabilities. Other Disability Resources - The Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council's list of resource links to additional agencies and organizations. Lawhelp - Guide to increase access to justice in Louisiana by giving the public easy and free internet access to information that will help with civil legal problems. LAFH - The Louisiana Fair Housing "UPHIL" (United for Progress on Housing in Louisiana) Project has a goal to educate people with disabilities, service providers, and landlords on the rights of individuals with disabilities to fair housing. Work Pays - The Work-Pays web site is for people with disabilities, employers and the community at large. Work-Pays is a consortium of people who came together to increase the employment opportunities of persons with disabilities in Louisiana. National LinksADA Watch - ADA Watch is a project of the National Coalition for Disability Rights (NCDR), a nonprofit alliance of hundreds of disability, civil rights, and social justice organizations united to defend and strengthen the rights of people with disabilities. AAIDD - The American Association on Intellectula and Developmental Disabilities promotes progressive policies, sound research, effective practices, and universal human rights for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. ADA - Americans with Disabilities Act ARC/US - The ARC of the United States advocates for the rights and full participation of all children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, improving systems of supports and services; connecting families; inspiring communities and influencing public policy. EEOC - Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of the United States NDRN - The National Disability Rights Network is the nonprofit membership organization for the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) Systems and Client Assistance Programs (CAP) for individuals with disabilities. Collectively, the P&A/CAP network is the largest provider of legally based advocacy services to people with disabilities in the United States.
